COMMERCIAL SOLAR SYSTEMS

CASH-FLOW POSITIVE FROM DAY ONE

STATE OF THE ART

Solar Energy Reimagined.

365 Solar Australia is fast becoming one of the most trusted commercial solar retail and solar installation companies across various States in Australia. We specialise, and have vast experience, in large-scale solar system solutions, including roof top mounted and ground mounted solar systems.

Installing a commercial solar system is quite literally employing the sun to work for you, giving you a cash-flow asset that smashes your energy bills, and gives you tax benefits, while reducing carbon emissions. There is a huge list of benefits to installing a commercial solar system, including reducing, dramatically, reliance on the grid and exposure to the ever growing electricity prices.

The great thing about commercial solar is that, although many businesses show concern about the cost of installing a large-scale system, most later realise that the overall, and long-term, cost actually works out to be cheaper than purchasing energy from the grid. In business terms, solar energy proves to be one of the best return on investment opportunities available today.

Federal Incentives

Federal Government Incentives.

There are several incentives, available, depending on where your business is and how large a system you opt to install. With Federal Government incentives in the form of Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs), and other State and Local Government incentives, making the switch to solar energy is more affordable and enticing that you may think. Speak to us and find out just how much you can claim and save.

Under 100kw - STCs.

Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are generated under the Federal Government Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme for installed solar systems under 100kw in size.

A small-scale technology certificate (STC) is equal to 1 megawatt hour of renewable electricity either generated or displaced by eligible small-scale renewable energy systems such as solar PV, wind and hydro and solar water heaters and air source heat pumps. STCs create a financial incentive to install small-scale renewable energy systems by reducing upfront installation costs.

Under the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme (SRES), eligible small-scale renewable energy systems are entitled to a number of STCs.

The number of certificates that can be created per system is based on its geographical location, installation date, and the amount of electricity in megawatt hours (MWh) that is:

  • generated by the small-scale solar panel, wind or hydro system over one or 5 years, or a single maximum deeming period, or
  • displaced by the solar water heater or heat pump over a single maximum deeming period.

You can calculate the number of certificates a system may be eligible for using the  small generation unit STC calculator.

The Renewable Energy Target is supported by an online registry system, called the REC Registry, which facilitates the creation, validation, auditing and transfer of certificates

Once created and validated, these certificates act as a form of currency and can be sold to recoup a portion of the cost of purchasing and installing the system. 365 Solar Australia manages this entire process for you, and your discount is applied on the solar PV proposal we create for you.

Over 100kw - LGCs.

Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs) are created per megawatt hour of eligible power generated by an installed solar system larger than 100kw in size.

The nominated person for an accredited power station may create large-scale generation certificates (LGCs) for eligible electricity generated by the power station. Eligible electricity is electricity generated from the power station’s renewable energy sources.

One LGC can be created per megawatt hour (MWh) of eligible electricity generated by a power station. The amount of electricity generated by a power station is to be worked in accordance with the large-scale generation certificate general formula.

A nominated person can create LGCs by submitting a ‘claim’ for LGCs in the REC Registry. Once a claim for LGCs has been received, the Clean Energy Regulator (CER) determines the eligibility of LGCs created – this process is called the ‘validation’ process – and will register eligible LGCs in the REC Registry.

Registered LGCs can be sold or transferred to entities with liabilities under the Renewable Energy Target or other companies looking to voluntarily surrender LGCs. Liable entities are companies (mainly electricity retailers) that are required to purchase and surrender LGCs to the CER each year in fulfilment of their obligations under the  Renewable Energy (Electricity) Act 2000.

LGCs are sold to liable entities (and other companies or individuals) in the market at a price determined by agreement between those parties.

Solar Victoria

Solar for Business Program.

Eligible businesses can apply for a rebate of $3,500 to install a solar panel system, with the option to take advantage of an interest-free loan up to $5,000.

The Solar for Business Program is an initiative designed to support Victorian businesses to reduce their energy costs by accessing the benefits of renewable energy.

This initiative will bring down energy bills for eligible businesses by reducing the upfront cost of the installation of an approved small-scale solar PV system up to 30kW inverter capacity. To support the economic recovery of Victorian businesses and the broader solar sector, 15,000 solar PV rebates will be available over the next three years.

Rebates cover up to 50 per cent of the cost of a rooftop solar system with businesses eligible for a maximum rebate of $3,500 to reduce the upfront cost of installing solar on their business premises, plus the option of an interest-free loan.

This means the total rebate amount will be capped at 50% or $3,500 of the cost on any approved system. For example, if the net costs of solar are $10,000, then the rebate value applied is $3,500 (not $5,000) or if the net costs are $4,000, then the rebate value applied is $2,000 (not $3,500).

Net costs are inclusive of GST and any contribution from Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs).

 ELEGIBILITY

All entity types, including charities and not-for-profit organisations, are eligible for the Solar for business rebates providing they meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Be the owner of a business that employs at least one person, not including the business owner, and less than 50 full time equivalent (FTE) employees
  • Operate from premises that are non-residential.
  • Operate from premises that are individually metered
  • Have not previously received a Solar for Business rebate
  • Have your system installed by a Solar Victoria approved solar retailer as detailed on Solar Victoria’s website
  • Install a solar system with an inverter capacity size up to 30kW, and detailed on the Solar Victoria approved product list

Businesses who own their premises and those who rent can apply for the Solar for Business rebate. A rental provider/landlord of the business premises cannot apply for the rebate on a business’ behalf.

Additional information for business owners who rent their premises can be found in the Landlord and Tenant Guidelines and Consent form.

The rebate is only available for installations that occur following the program opening for applications on 28 May 2021. Systems installed prior will not be eligible for a rebate.

If your home is your main place of business and you meet the eligibility criteria for the residential program, you may be eligible for a Solar Homes rebate.

 INTEREST-FREE LOAN

To further reduce costs, business owners can apply for an interest-free loan. The loan amount is based on the quote you provide to Solar Victoria. Loans offered start from $1,000 up to a maximum amount of $5,000. You have the option of paying over 12 or 24 months or can be repaid sooner in one lump sum.
