BATTERY STORAGE
NEVER RUN OUT OF FREE ENERGY
The Basics
Solar Battery Storage.
Battery storage technology is finally here…
Installing a solar battery will change the way your solar power system works, and how you use your power.
Without solar storage batteries, the energy your solar system generates, as expected, works to directly power the appliances in your home or business, with any unused, or excess, power being sold back to the grid. This would earn you a credit on your power bill with your energy retailer.
When your solar energy system isn’t generating any power, you buy all of your electricity from the grid. This is all well and good, except; the rate at which you sell your electricity to the grid is far lower than the rate you pay when you buy electricity from the grid. Solar battery storage gives the advantage back to you.
With solar panel battery storage, your solar panels will still directly power your appliances, while the sun is out. However, the excess power generated by your solar panels does not go to the grid. It gets stored in your battery. This unused power that gets stored in your battery is then used to power your appliances at night, or if there isn’t enough sunlight for your solar panels to be generating power. It means that you use more of your solar power at home or business, and buy less electricity from the grid overall.
The grid is important, because when your solar storage battery is empty, and your solar panels aren’t generating enough energy to power your appliances, you will use power from the grid to power your home or business. Having said that, you can still earn credits on your power bills. When your battery is fully charged, then the additional excess energy generated by your solar panels will, yet again, be sent back to the grid. This is great for offsetting your grid’s energy daily supply charge.
It is very important that you install just the right size of battery your property needs. This is so that you can maximise on the power you use from your solar power system, without storing power that you won’t end up using in your battery. Store just the right amount you need and sell enough back to the grid, instead, for that credit to cover your daily supply charge. This is where our expertise comes in to ensure that you are very well informed, and end up with the most optimum solution based on your specific energy consumption and usage habits.
The Variety
Types of Solar Batteries.
There are several types of solar battery storage systems available in the Australian market, including:
- Lead-acid batteries: These batteries have been used in the solar industry for a long time and are the oldest type of battery. They are heavy and relatively inexpensive, but they also need constant maintenance.
- Lithium-ion batteries: Although more expensive than lead-acid batteries, lithium-ion batteries are lighter, more effective, and need less upkeep. This type of battery is the most commonly installed and used in the Australian Residential and Commercial market.
- Flow batteries: Compared to conventional batteries, flow batteries have a longer lifespan and faster charging times since they store energy in liquid form.
- Sodium-ion batteries: Compared to conventional lead-acid batteries, sodium-ion batteries have a better energy density and a longer lifespan.
- Nickel-cadmium batteries: Nickel-cadmium batteries are highly suited for use in solar energy storage systems due to its extended lifespan and capacity for deep drain cycles.
Ultimately, the best type of battery for you will depend on your specific needs, budget, and the amount of energy you need to store.
Worth every dollar
Battery Storage Benefits.
USE MORE SOLAR
Battery storage enables you to use more of the power your solar power system generates, helping you save more on your bills.
SUSTAINABLE
Rely less on the grid with your own stored power that you can use at night, or when there is no sun-shine, and pay ZERO for it.
POWER-OUTAGE PROOF
Keep lights on, and out of the dark, with a solar battery storage system that can power your home during a power-outage.
